Our client is part of an internationally active private equity group whose core business is investing in companies across various sectors. The real estate arm functions as its own practice within the group, directly investing in mixed-use properties situated in the heart of major international cities. The practice has built up a solid property portfolio which it continuously strives to expand. Due to its high standards and long-term investment horizon, the entire value chain is covered internally.
As part of ongoing growth and internal reorganization, we are looking to fill the position of Finance Director Real Estate (f/m/d) in Berlin on an exclusive basis for our client. The position will manage a Financial Controller, lead all financial aspects of the real estate portfolio and act as a strategic partner of the Practice Lead. This includes serving as the second in command, offering additional oversight, and seamlessly stepping in for the Practice Lead when necessary. Furthermore, the position will provide expertise in portfolio strategy and transaction management to the team. The Finance Director Real Estate will report to the Practice Lead and the Group CFO.
Funktion
In close collaboration with the Practice Lead, you are responsible for all finance-related matters of the global real estate portfolio as well as its holding structure, providing high-quality and timely management information.
You oversee all financial transactions and undertake budget planning and control, cash flow management, strategic optimization of capital structure, and coordination of efficient financial resource utilization.
You review and ensure the proper preparation of annual financial statements according to local GAAP, working closely with external providers in this regard.
You are held accountable for accurate reporting concerning asset valuation, tax filings, internal control, risk management, treasury, and compliance.
You are responsible for reviewing tax returns in various areas and ensuring compliance with tax assessments.
You analyze the financial feasibility and ensure effective financial execution, particularly concerning improvement, construction, investment, or divestment initiatives.
You ensure compliance with organizational rules, corporate governance principles, and relevant laws and regulations such as CoC, KYC, and AML, which are critical aspects of the position.
You will be responsible for continuously improving finance and accounting processes, including internal risk management and control systems, and regularly evaluating their effectiveness in close cooperation with the Group CFO.
You serve as a point of contact for banks, structuring/tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities in all target countries.
Anforderungen
Completed degree in Business Administration (BWL, VWL) with a specialization in Finance and Accounting or Controlling.
Relevant work experience in a comparable financial role within an expanding international real estate company.
Thorough knowledge of accounting according to HGB, US-GAAP, and IFRS, as well as tax law.
Fluent negotiation skills in both English and German are essential. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications.
